Universal Credit UK: Minimum Income Floor rules from DWP set to change in just two weeks | Personal Finance | Finance

Those who have been self-employed for less than 12 months have a grace period known as the ’start-up’, meaning the minimum income floor will not be used.

In addition, a point which may be particularly relevant in the current crisis, is a person falling ill.

If a person is temporarily too sick to work, and this affects their ability to turn a profit, the minimum income floor may not be applied for this time period – but claimants must contact the DWP.

Self-employed people must also provide key information to the DWP if they are on Universal Credit at the end of a monthly assessment period.
